American Idol does not take care of their people! I mean, come on… they ONLY gave Simon Cowell a $45 million a year bump in salary! No wonder Paula left! Here’s some info I read on JV’s blog:

—Seriously. Simon WAS making a mere $36 million a year. The new deal keeps him in the judge’s seat for two seasons past the one they just started filming … which premieres in January.
—Yes, that seems like a RIDICULOUS amount to pay someone. But keep in mind that “Idol” took in $850 million in ad revenue last year.
—RYAN SEACREST just signed a $45 million deal, but it stretches over three years.

this guy makes more than i do just to tell people that they can or can’t sing. i got to get a new job.
You know what….I wouldn’t care if they made that much if they turned around and gave a GOOD piece of it to charitable organizations such as helping all those people down in New Orleans or the people who are homeless or starving here in this country and others.
Well whoever watches it contributes to its success and the obscene amount of money they’re paid – just for their opinion. So please people, stop watching crap, get a life and do something good for someone instead of making silly people really wealthy.
Natasha dear, just because American Idol’s publicists say that hosts make a pile of money doesn’t make it true. Said hosts sign contracts that oblige them to allow the show to say anything. This is all about publicity and manipulation. Ignore them. NOBODY paid Simon Cowell $45 million, and nobody ever will.
Without Simon, there is no Idol. Period. End of Story. Paula is good for entertainment value. That she thought she should get more shows how deluded she is. Unfortunately, she is needed since Karla and Randy are the same in judging style and background. We will see how this turns out.
I’m sure the majority of people watch American Idol just to hear what Simon is going to say.
Granted, that doesn’t mean he should be paid $45 million/year, but it wouldn’t be the same "American Idol" without Simon Cowell.
